Lowestoft's Longest Established
Judo Club
Club History
Iceni Judo Club operates at the Everyone active Leisure Trust Sports Centre, Water Lane Lowestoft. We are a British Judo Association registered club (Reg No 1236) and the club has been running for over 40 years, under the guidance of founder, club president and Senior club coach, Roger Goulder, 3rd Dan.
All of the Senior Judo Team are child protection/safeguard trained, first aid qualified (although the sports centre is responsible for all first aid cover), CRB checked and registered to practice with the BJA. We have an established code of conduct and we emphasise judo, in both a traditional and modern form, as an independent sport, a fun activity and a medium for good discipline.
Club fees are just £5 per session, Iceni is a friendly, local club – and Lowestoft’s oldest club – and we take pride in extending judo for all ages and abilities. You will need a BJA licence (which gives you insurance cover) in order to become a club member and take part in gradings, the club championship and contests etc. The committee will advise you on forms to complete.
We also have our own range of t-shirts and hoodies with the club logo proudly displayed. The figure in our logo is Japanese for “bravery” – it is a unique logo and we are proud of it!
